Halloween Night with the Quest: 5 Games from Harmless to Scary
From Laser Thief as a harmless warm-up to HAUNTED as PEGI 18 horror: five Quest games for Halloween, sorted by scare factor, with age guidance.

Short answer: A good Halloween night with the Quest builds gradually. We sorted five games by scare factor, from a harmless laser heist to horror in your own room. For each title, we give an age note. For our own games, the ratings come from the store listing; for third-party titles, please check the rating on the respective store page, because it can vary by region.
What we looked at
- Scare factor: atmosphere, jump scares, violence
- Age rating: according to the store, where we verified it
- Group suitability: How well does it work when others are watching?
- Space and movement: room-scale play or standing in place
Level 1: Laser Thief (harmless)
No horror here, but a heist with lasers in your living room. You duck under beams, wait for blinking lasers, freeze in front of security cameras, and carry the loot back to the starting pad. The tone is light, and the robot BLIP comments on failed attempts with humor. For Halloween, it works as a warm-up: the tension comes from concentration, not fear. Dimmed lights and red lasers in the room still set the mood; for very dark rooms, the VR mode is recommended because passthrough and hand tracking need light.
- Age rating: PEGI 12 according to the store (descriptor “Horror” in the listing)
- Space: The store recommends at least 3 × 3 meters
- For groups: take turns playing, spectators via casting
Level 2: Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord (playful)
Ghost hunting with a proton stream and trap in a city full of ghosts. The tone is more adventure than horror, in the spirit of the film series. Play solo or online with a team.
- Age rating: check on the store page
- Space: standing, movement in the game
- For groups: online as a team; take turns in the living room
Level 3: Hauntify Mixed Reality (eerie)
Ghost hunting in mixed reality, where your own home becomes the haunted location. In coverage of the game, it was described as an early access title; the current status is in the store.
- Age rating: check on the store page
- Space: multiple rooms possible, depending on the game mode
- For groups: good for watching, because your own home is visible
Level 4: Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted (jump scares)
The VR adaptation of the well-known series: you monitor cameras, close doors, and try to avoid animatronic figures. The game thrives on jump scares, but thanks to its cartoon figures, it is less brutal than classic horror.
- Age rating: check on the store page
- Space: mostly sitting or standing in place
- For groups: very entertaining for spectators
Level 5: HAUNTED: Are You Alone? (scary, adults only)
A story-driven horror game in mixed reality that turns your own room into the level. A witch who, according to the game, has lived in this house for 100 years has found you; a little girl on an old telephone guides you through the night. According to the studio, the story lasts about 25 to 35 minutes, plus three endless arcade modes. We deliberately do not reveal any twists here.
- Age rating: PEGI 18 according to the store, descriptor “Extreme Violence”
- Warnings according to the studio: sudden loud noises, flickering and darkness, blood and violence, intense jump scares. Not suitable for children, pregnant people, or people with epilepsy, heart conditions, or anxiety disorders. At launch, the game shows a content warning every time.
- Space: according to the studio, any room size; game modes according to the store are room-scale and standing, no sitting
- For groups: single-player; the “Hide my room” mode, according to the studio, replaces the passthrough image with a virtual cell, useful when streaming

How to plan the night
- Start with Level 1. Everyone gets used to the headset, including guests with no VR experience.
- Say goodbye to younger players before Level 4. By HAUNTED at the latest, children and teenagers no longer belong in the room, not even as spectators.
- Keep the play area clear. Startled players take big steps. Pumpkins, candles, and decorations do not belong near the play area; we skip real candles entirely in rooms where someone is playing with a headset.
- Don’t turn the lights all the way off. Mixed reality games need light for tracking. Dimmed yes, pitch black no.
- Anyone can opt out. No one has to play Level 5.
Bottom line
For a Halloween night with a mixed crowd, start with the harmless Laser Thief and build from there. HAUNTED belongs at the end of the night and only in adult hands: PEGI 18 and loud jump scares in your own room.
