How we review
The checklist behind every report, what our scores mean, and the limits of reviewing products we make ourselves.
Every report on Honest App Report follows the same method. This page explains it, including the part that matters most: we are the developer of some of the products we review.
The conflict of interest, stated plainly
Honest App Report is published by the company that also develops or publishes LingFit, MindIsland, Laser Thief, Haunted: Are You Alone?, Tank Avenger – Mixed Reality, Sozo – Tower Defense. Who that is, with full contact details, is in our legal notice.
When a report covers one of these products:
- it is not an independent test;
- any score is labelled as the publisher’s opinion;
- we still list cons and a “who should skip it” section, and we name real alternatives from other companies;
- we only state product facts we can back up from the official store listing or product documentation.
We cannot remove this conflict, only make it visible. Please treat reports on our own products as information from the maker, and compare them with independent sources before you pay for anything.
What we look at
Each report works through the same checklist. Not every point applies to every product.

| Content & depth | How much is there to do, learn or play, and does it hold up after the first week? |
| Comfort & safety (VR) | Play space, movement style, intensity, breaks, age guidance from the platform. |
| Privacy | What the published privacy policy says about data, accounts and sign-in. |
| Who it’s for / who should skip it | The kind of person who will get value from it, and who probably won’t. |
| Alternatives | Real competing products, described accurately and fairly. |
What our scores mean
Where a report shows a score out of 10, it is an editorial opinion that summarises the checklist above, with value for money weighted most heavily. It is not a lab measurement, not an average of user ratings, and not a guarantee. Scores on products from our publisher are always marked as the publisher’s opinion.
We do not publish user reviews, star ratings from readers, testimonials or quotes we cannot attribute.
What we don’t claim
- We do not run a test lab, a test panel or hardware measurements.
- We do not claim hours of testing or numbers of testers we cannot document.
- We do not receive payment from other companies for coverage, and we do not use affiliate links unless a link is clearly marked.
Keeping reports current
Apps and games change through updates. Each report shows a “last checked” date. When we learn that something has changed, we update the report and the date. If you spot an outdated fact, please email [email protected].
