The MindIsland Library Reviewed: What the Eight Categories Offer Without Personalization
We look at MindIsland's ready-made meditations: eight categories from Breathe to Gratitude, their value as a supplement, and what is known about the library's size.
Pros
- Hand-built categories instead of an overwhelming pile
- Ready to start right away, without typing anything
- Clear topics like Breathe, Sleep, Focus, Anxiety Relief, and Gratitude
Cons
- The publisher does not state how large the library is
- Clearly smaller than the libraries of established apps
- Ready-made meditations are not tailored to your situation

The short answer: MindIsland’s library offers ready-made meditations in eight hand-built categories. It is handy when you want to hear something on sleep, breathing, or focus quickly, without typing. It is not a good main reason for the subscription, because it is small and the publisher does not state its size.
What we looked at
- Structure: How are the contents organized, and can you find your way around?
- Topics: Which categories are there?
- Size: What is known about the amount?
- Interaction: How does the library complement the personalized sessions?
- Value: How much does the library contribute to the subscription price?
Our sources are the website mindisland.app, the store description, and the official screenshots, as of October 10, 2026.
Structure and categories
According to the website, there are public, ready-made meditations in eight hand-built categories. Named specifically are Breathe, Sleep, Focus, Anxiety Relief, and Gratitude, “and more.” The store screenshots also show Guided Meditation and Visualization. That makes seven of the eight categories publicly documented.
According to the screenshot, the app’s home screen shows highlighted meditations, including the categories, next to the “Create meditation” button. So the library is not hidden; it sits on equal footing with personalization. The store line for it reads roughly: “Or just press play.”
| Category | What it is suited for |
|---|---|
| Breathe | short breathing exercises in between |
| Sleep | sessions to wind down in the evening |
| Focus | concentration before work or studying |
| Anxiety Relief | calming down in tense moments |
| Gratitude | gratitude exercises, for example at the end of the day |
| Guided Meditation | classic guided meditation |
| Visualization | imagination exercises |
The assignment in the right column is our own reading based on the category name, not a description from the publisher.
Size: honestly unknown
We have to be clear here: the publisher does not state a number of meditations in the library. The website only says that new sessions are added regularly. The app launched on September 16, 2026. A library that is only a few weeks old cannot be as extensive as those of apps that have been adding content for years.
For buyers, that means: do not expect hundreds of ready-made sessions per category. Treat the library as a curated selection.
How it works with personalization
MindIsland’s strength lies in sessions that come from your own sentence. The library serves a different purpose:
- When you do not want to write anything, but also do not want to hear the daily meditation.
- When you have a general topic, such as focus before work, that does not need a specific occasion.
- When you want to conserve your quota. The store description suggests that personalized sessions come with a monthly quota that can be topped up with credit packages. Ready-made meditations are one way to still practice on quiet days. Whether library sessions count against that quota is not publicly described.
The library offers the same basic building blocks as the rest of the app: AI voices and optional background music that, according to the publisher, ducks under the voice. Whether the ready-made sessions can also be chosen in 3, 5, and 10 minutes is not clear from the materials.
Price and value
The library is part of MindIsland Premium. According to the website FAQ, only the first meditation is free. In the US App Store, Premium Monthly cost $12.99 on October 10, 2026; the store does not state the terms of the $89.99 and $39.99 packages. We did not find a trial period.
In terms of value for money, the library plays a supporting role. If you are only looking for ready-made meditations, established apps give you considerably more material for similar money, and with Insight Timer even a lot of it for free. The library makes sense as a supplement for people who subscribe because of the personalization.
Safety
Even the Anxiety Relief category is intended for relaxation and reflection, according to the store description. MindIsland is not a medical device and does not offer therapy, diagnosis, or treatment. For ongoing anxiety complaints, professional help is the right path.
How to use the library well
For the library to find its place in daily life, we recommend a clear division of roles:
- Breathe for short breaks. If you just want to take a quick breath between two appointments, a ready-made breathing exercise is faster than a session of your own.
- Focus before concentrated work. A general focus does not need a personal occasion.
- Sleep on evenings without a specific topic. If no concrete thought is keeping you awake, a ready-made sleep meditation is enough.
- Gratitude at the end of the day. A gratitude exercise fits well as a way to close out the day.
- Your own session for a specific occasion. For presentations, arguments, or decisions, the input field remains the better route.
If you find something in the library that fits well, mark it as a favorite. That way, over time you build your own small collection that is independent of how the official library grows.
Who it is for
- Subscribers who want to meditate on some days without any input.
- People who prefer a manageable selection to a huge library.
Who should skip it
- Anyone choosing an app mainly for the amount of ready-made content.
- Anyone looking for content from specific human teachers. The voices in MindIsland are AI voices.
Alternatives
- Insight Timer: a very large, mostly free library with many human teachers.
- Headspace: a curated library with courses and single sessions.
- Calm: a large library focused on sleep, music, and Sleep Stories.
What we could not clarify
Not publicly described are the eighth category, the exact number of meditations per category, and the question of whether library sessions count against a quota. It is also unclear how often new sessions are added. We will update this report if the publisher provides information on this.
Our assessment
We rate the library 8.5 out of 10 (publisher’s opinion). It is clearly organized, well sorted, and fulfills its purpose as a quick route to a ready-made meditation. It loses points for the unknown, still small size. More about the app at mindisland.app.
Bottom line
The library is a useful supplement to the personalized sessions, but not a reason to buy on its own. If you mainly want a large amount of ready-made material, you are better off with apps that have big libraries.
