LingFit's AI Extra Packs in Review: What One Credit Actually Gets You

We look at LingFit's Custom Packs: the topic route, the word-list route, the control you get before creating, the result in the “Yours” tab, and what a credit costs.

Pros

  • One pack produces a complete chapter with the same exercise formats as the course
  • Two routes: a topic with a word-type selection, or 1–20 words of your own
  • The word list can be reviewed and edited before creating
  • A failed creation automatically refunds the credit
  • Purchased credits do not expire

Cons

  • Packs cost extra on top of the subscription
  • Only one free credit to start
  • AI-generated content can contain errors; there is a reporting feature for that, but no guarantee

The short answer: For one credit, LingFit creates a complete practice chapter on a topic of your choice or on up to 20 words of your own. The result has the same exercise formats, audio, and images as the main course. In our view, it’s worth it for learners with a specific need; if you’re just following the course, you don’t need it.

What we looked at

  • Input: What routes are there for creating a pack, and how much control do you have?
  • Result: What’s in a finished pack?
  • Cost: What does a pack cost, and what happens if something goes wrong?
  • Sharing: What happens with public packs?

Route 1: Enter a topic

You type in any topic. The maker gives examples such as “nursing in a German hospital,” “job interview in Spanish,” or “meetings in software development,” but also hobbies like hiking or photography, feelings like “expressing frustration,” and life situations like a doctor’s visit or apartment hunting.

Before creating, you choose the word type. There are four levels:

Word type What it’s intended for
Basic Words Basic vocabulary for the topic
Advanced Vocabulary Advanced terms
Ultra Advanced Very challenging words
Specialist Words Technical terms

LingFit then suggests a word list. You can review and edit this list before the chapter is built. That matters: you don’t spend the credit blindly; you see beforehand which words will end up in the chapter. You can remove words you already know or don’t need.

Route 2: Bring your own words

Alternatively, you bring 1 to 20 words yourself. There are three ways to do that:

  1. Type them in, word by word.
  2. Take a photo: a vocabulary list from school, a worksheet, a book page, a menu, or a sign. According to the maker, the app reads the text even when the print is small and extracts the vocabulary. An image from your gallery also works.
  3. Choose from your saved words, meaning from your own word list in the app.

This route is especially useful when the vocabulary is already set, for example through a school list or a technical glossary.

What’s in a finished pack

The pack appears as its own chapter in the “Yours” tab on the home screen, with its own emoji. It uses the same exercise formats as the main course, from flashcards to listening exercises and sentence building to speaking practice, each with audio and images. You can rename the chapter and change the description at any time.

Every word in the pack can be tapped just like anywhere else in the app: multiple translations, base form, audio at normal and slow speed, an AI explanation, and the option to save it.

Public packs

A pack stays private at first. If you want, you can make it public. According to the maker, an automatic safety check runs first. Public packs from other learners can be searched, saved, and liked. That means you may be able to get chapters on your topic without spending your own credit, provided someone else has already created and shared one.

How to get more out of a credit

Because every pack costs one credit, a little planning pays off. Three habits help:

  1. Keep the topic narrow. “Doctor’s visit: describing symptoms” gives more targeted words than just “health.” The clearer the topic, the less you have to change on the suggested list.
  2. Choose the right word type. For a vacation, “Basic Words” is usually enough; for a professional discussion, “Specialist Words” makes more sense. A wrongly chosen level leads to a chapter that is too easy or too hard.
  3. Search first, then create. Before you spend a credit, it’s worth looking through other learners’ public packs. Your topic may already exist.

Price and value

Every pack costs one credit. Every new account gets one credit for free. Additional credits are bought in bundles and do not expire. In the US App Store, we saw these prices on October 10, 2026:

Bundle Price (App Store US, October 10, 2026) Price per credit
5 credits $5.99 approx. $1.20
12 credits $9.99 approx. $0.83
20 credits $14.99 approx. $0.75

We could not view prices on Google Play publicly. The credits are added on top of the subscription; they are not included in it.

On the plus side: if creation fails, the credit is automatically refunded, and you get a notification. So you don’t pay for a chapter that was never created.

For context: a pack replaces typing out flashcards, finding audio, and putting together exercises. If you would otherwise do that yourself, it saves time. If you only need a topic occasionally, the smallest bundle goes a long way.

Who it’s for, and who should skip it

A good fit for: - Working professionals with technical vocabulary, such as in nursing, engineering, or food service - Students with vocabulary lists from class - People before a move, a trip, or a job interview

Skip it if: - The main course up to B2 is enough for you - You don’t want to make additional purchases on top of the subscription - You expect error-free, human-reviewed content: AI content can contain errors. For such cases, there is a “Report lesson” feature directly in the lesson screen.

Quick questions about the packs

Can I change a pack afterward? The name and description can be changed at any time. You review and edit the word list before creating.

Can everyone see my packs? No. Packs are private until you make them public yourself.

Alternatives

Anki is free on most platforms (the iOS app costs money) and allows your own flashcards with a lot of flexibility, but it requires significantly more manual work. Quizlet also offers your own study sets and a large collection of shared sets. Both are flashcard tools, not a chapter with twelve exercise formats. If you value control over every card, you’re in good hands there.

Bottom line

The Custom Packs are what sets LingFit apart from most language apps. Reviewing the word list before creating and the automatic refund on errors make the model fair. The deduction is for the extra cost. Our assessment as publisher: 9.0 out of 10. More about the packs is on the LingFit website.

Bottom line

The Custom Packs are LingFit's strongest feature: one credit creates a complete chapter on exactly your topic. If you need targeted vocabulary of your own, in our view you get clear added value here. But you should plan for the extra cost.
